IFSC Code

The IFSC code, short for Indian Financial System Code, is an alphanumeric code assigned to each bank branch by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It is used to uniquely identify a specific bank branch participating in various electronic transactions in the country.

IFSC codes usually consist of 11 characters, including both letters and numbers. Each segment of the code provides specific information about the bank and its branch.

The IFSC code is divided into three parts: the first four characters represent the bank code, the fifth character is always ‘0’ (zero), and the last six characters represent the branch code. Together, they allow precise identification of the bank branch involved in the transaction.
